The Knight and the Dragon

The Knight and the Dragon

Prelude

There was once a knight,
who was noble and fearless;
Alone against a fearsome dragon,
he stood up against him nonetheless

I

The knight's soliloquy:

O dragon I have seek thee,
Day and night have I search thee;
You rule over this village with fear,
Their prospering economy is all but a facade

You have corrupted yourself with dragon sickness,
And hoarded treasures unimaginable
Yet villagers are silently suffering
And their living conditions deplorable

I will stand up for my fellow villagers
To say what they cannot utter
To do what they are not able
To face the mighty dragon.

II

The dragon's response:

O little man, you mere mortal,
You dare challenge the highest, ancient creature?
You will get your retribution,
For your bold defamation.

For I am wise and without equal;
I descend from a legendary, noble lineage
Your lies have received none,

I will just have to prove that I won.

You incite trouble you mislead my people
My people trust me for I am wise.
You gathered my people without my permission
Why? against me? That's my indignation.

I have protected this village with my fearsome might;
With my stability they prospered;
With my rule they flourished,
The gold in my vault are my fair wages,
And indeed, I deserve more.

III

Resolution:

But alas, in a fleeting moment,
The young knight was utterly defeated.

Banished,
Exiled,
And forgotten...
As countless before him were.

Do not challenge a dragon,
But instead
Learn from the way of the hobbit:
Stealthy, nimble and invisible
The dragon will never know
Who took his riches
